Doing Something

I am still unemployed. And I am waiting for my Maryland cosmetology license. Everyone just wants money...the state of Maryland and the state of Utah. To have Maryland consider me for a license they need $25 and they want to know that I have a current license but they won't accept me showing them my license. They want certification from directly from Utah but Utah won't send it without $20. Money money money!!! Of which I have none. You have to have a job to get money and to get the job I want I have to have a license and to get the license I have to money. I would be in a rut without mom and dad. They are helping me with money until I have a job. To pay rent at mom and dads I give dad two haircuts a month. They say I'm getting a good deal, but they don't know how expensive my haircuts are. ;)

I have applied to some places but still nothing. The chiropractor mom and I go to needs a receptionist Fridays starting in June and it sounds like I am already accepted for the job. They want me to have an interview and then start training so I'm guessing if they train me they want me for the job. I applied at JoAnn's (the craft store) to cut fabric! Wouldn't that be fun!?! They only need someone part time but it sounds like fun to me. And I love crafts so that job would be so much fun!!! I am also looking into a nanny position. There is an LDS family who has a 6 month old baby boy that needs to be nannied. It pays really well but it takes up a lot of time so I'm just looking into it for now.

Until I get a job I am making a quilt.
To my married sibblings (so all of you): This quilt is for the next baby girl in the family. I am prepared for when that day comes. And if you have a boy, don't worry that is my next project. I am ready to be an aunt again so the responsibility rests upon your shoulders. It is a freaking cute quilt and it was made by a loving aunt! So if you could step it up that would be great. Mom agrees completely with the fact that we need more babies.

Heather commented on my last blog that you might like an update of Elder Juarez. He is doing great! I got a letter about a month ago that said he is now a District Leader. I'm not all that sure about what that means except that he is in charge of like 10 other missionaries. Which is cool. So far he loves it! He is actually in Fresno now. Its the first city he has been in since he got to California. He says that " Fresno is huge and the are so many crazy people here! I thought there were crazy people in my other areas, but no, they flock to Fresno."

(I couldn't get the scanner to work for some of his mission pictures so until I figure it out here's a nice picture of Jon and me.)

Every month I send Jon a tie. I figure that his wardrobe is kind of boring since he has to wear the same thing every day so I send him new ties. And I guess I pick out really good ties because some of the members comment on how nice his ties are. "There is a member in our ward here that complimented me on the green tie you just sent. Then they asked where I was getting such good ties and I told them that I was getting them from my girlfriend back home. Then they said 'well tell her that she picks out fantastic ties'. I have gotten so many compliments on them" So now I have some pressure to send him really good ties. But ties out here are very expensive. Mom and I went to the mall and they range in price from $30-$100! I am way too poor for that!

In his area now he and his companion live with some members. I thought that it was kind of weird that they live at some member's house I am not sure if that is kind of normal on your mission but I had never heard of that before. Apparently it is to help save some money for the church. I'm just don't know a whole lot of what goes on while you are on a mission.
He had an interesting thing happen to him. I will quote the story for you. I love his letters because he writes just like he talks. Its about a baptism for an 18 year old kid named David.

"Well its story time now. I told you about the baptism of David that was supposed to happen this past Saturday. Well it didn't happen 'cause David didn't show! Yeah, no one can get a hold of him, not even his mom! We have no idea what happened to him, he disappeared. How crazy is that, we got stood up at a baptism!"

I guess fun stuff like that happens while you are on a mission. I will keep you updated on Jon as the time goes by. He has been out for 7 months now! Only 17 to go!
